Macbook Pro unibody mid 2009 15" Careful with the battery

Mi Problema

My lid was slightly damaged and wouldn't close properly. The computer failed to go to sleep in my backpack, overheated, and fried the hard-drive.

Mi Solución

Almost everything went well during the replacement, except for the battery removal. The iFixit hard-drive replacement kit is well equipped, but it was missing a very small Phillips head needed to remove the battery from its place. Since I had to apply a little more force with a different tool, I ended up damaging two of the three little plastic hoops that keep the battery attached to the computer. Fortunately, the middle loop was OK and apparently it is doing a good job at holding everything in place. The hard-drive is in and operating!

Be careful when removing the battery. Try not to remove it if you possibly can. Unfortunately, the battery on these mid 2009 unibodies block you from simply unplugging the power from the logic board. Anyhow, be careful.
