Mi Problema
A friend of mine gave a hard time to her iphone , the first time she dropped the phone in a puddle , shattering the rear panel . But the phone was still working .. the second time.. well the second time .. she lost her phone for 5 days , until her flatmates found it in the gutter of the street , basically she took a taxi home and it was raining pretty hard this day so she rushed into her place .. the phone fell out of her bag , and waited there .. in the water and rain , peacefully .
When she got her phone handed over .. it would still turn on !!
But little by little the phone was acting crazy .... Battery dropping dead low , recovery mode etc etc etc..
I was curious to see what was happening inside . So i ordered a couple of items from iFixit

Opening the phone ... turns out water got in .. and aside from the rust , the battery was leaking . So not looking so good inside at all .
I had a replacement battery but if the mainboard was damaged too , it would be completely useless , so i disassembled the phone completely , to the core , to be sure that there would be a chance to save it ( and also for the fun of doing it )
Rusty screws were a bit tricky but overall it went well .
In the end the motherboard / display / sound speakers/ camera miraculously survived .. i've just cleaned the connections and made sure everything was in place .
Putting stuff back together wasn't that hard but took some time ..
Then came the moment of truth ... turning the phone back on .
And it worked !!!!! \o/
New battery , charging properly , everything plugged back nicely !!
Mi Consejo
Use a soft surface to put the phone onto .
Use sticky tape to glue the small screws while you're doing something else , because they are small .. they move easily , any bump , any dropped screw driver make them jump like crazy and they can fall .. and if so you'll spend 45 min looking for them on the carpet of your living room ( true story )
But most of all , take your time and don't give up .
