Google Pixel 4 XL Teardown

Mi Problema

Just recently had bought the Google Pixel 4 XL and only 3 weeks in it slid off my lap and impacted on the left corner; causing a spiderweb crack across the front screen. No loss in functionality but being that I would be using this phone for at least the next 2 years, I would prefer not to have a cracked screen quite yet. My cell provider had no coverage for this type of damage ("big surprise") and the OEM repair cost was $300 just for parts! With ifixit both tools and replacement parts left me at only $180!

Mi Consejo

The repair was swift and clean thanks to the ifixit toolkit. The only thing I would do differently and recommend others watch for, is when you are securing the new screen on with an adhesive, make sure it is lined up exactly when you clamp it down. It is not terribly noticeable on my device but on the left side of the front panel there is an extra 1mm gap.
