Mi Problema

My 13” mid 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina) slowed down to a grinding halt. Doing something as simple as opening a Word document would take between a minute and 5 minutes. At first, I erased my computer and reinstalled macOS thinking this would help greatly. It did help for about a day or two before my Mac again slowed down. I did not restore from a Time Machine backup as I knew this may contribute to slowing. After doing a quick google search on how to speed up my MacBook Pro I found the repair manuals on iFixit. I would never undertake something so daunting, however with the tools provided by iFixit I gained the confidence to clone my hard drive to an SSD and replace the RAM. The longest part of my experience was cloning the hard drive, but once that was over the actual replacement time took as little as 30 minutes. I want to give a huge shoutout to the iFixit team! I want to thank you for empowering me and giving me the tools and guides to do this repair. I am happy to report that my MacBook Pro feels like new! It’s blazing fast speed makes me thankful that with a couple hundred dollars I feel like I’ve splurged on a brand new MacBook! You guys rock! If I ever need anything in the future, I will be coming to iFixit. This is my new one stop shop for any future repairs!

Mi Solución

Amazing! Thank you! I also ordered the starter kit from iFixit and it helped me greatly. Having the screws be labeled as the guide made everything a seamless experience!

Mi Consejo

Watch some videos on YouTube first. The more you watch others do the repair, the more confidence you’ll gain in yourself. Be astute and make sure not to miss any steps! If you follow the guide to a “T” your repair should go off without a hitch!
