Mi Problema

I decided to upgrade to an ssd for my boot drive from OWC and swap out the 500gb 5400rpm stock drive for a 750gb 7200rpm hdd. I wouldn't say there was a problem with the way my system was-- just curious to see how much of a difference a sdd would make.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

This was my first time really gutting a computer, and was pretty nervous when I realized I had a desktop full of parts and an empty aluminum case! But the guide and pictures were very easy to understand, even for someone like me with not much experience.

A few issues:

-when I finally got my drives in and powered up, my computer didn't recognize the drives and wouldn't go into Lion internet recovery. I read that swapping the position of the drives solved this issue for some, putting the hdd in first and then the sdd on top, and it worked for me too.

-I can't seem to get the silver metal AC-In socket retainer to stay put. Every time I reinsert the logic board assembly back into the mac mini case, it seems to come loose and rattle around. It's not affecting anything right now, so I'm giving it a break, although I'm sure I'll open it up again to fiddle with it at some point.

My mac mini is running great now. I don't have any benchmarks, but boot time must be around 30s and responsiveness when opening applications seems instantaneous. I'm very happy!

Mi Consejo

It helped for me to read through all the directions first to familiarize myself with the significance of each step before diving in.
