Mi Problema

I'd heard I could SSD my mini so, having had very zippy results doing so with windows7, it had to be worth a try.

Mi Solucion

Sweet as bro. No royalties for saying this: very happy that I paid the seemingly outrageous price for the kit which, at the time, seemed to have nothing of particular importance to getting the job done. It just made it a no-hassle experience.

The bonus was that the guide came up quite nicely on my mobile phone so I was still able to follow along whilst the mac was under the knife.

Mi Consejo

There was one screw which was out of place in the guide compared to my mini, but don't sweat it; I guess apple made a tweak there. My advice is not to try and force anything! If it won't come out have patience, be gentle, take your time, figure it out - because nothing needs force - just careful manipulation. That mini is very tightly fitted and to do this job you need to pull the whole thing apart. Allocate about 2 hours.

It's definitely zippier. Easiest is to restore from TimeMachine.

I recommend you fastidiously line up the screws and parts in the order in which you take them out. There are quite a few of them by the end, and you must reverse the order when you put it back together. If they're all lined up neatly you know exactly which one to put back next.

Also, when putting it back together, don't be afraid to start disassembly again; it's such a tight fit a couple of times I found things just subtlety didn't seem to be in place; or not so sublety I couldn't get one of the antenna screws to take the thread. Backtracking a bit I found something needed a minute shift in position, thence re-assemble again and the screws threaded nicely. Take your time, don't force anything, and all will be well.
