Hydrogen Cell...sort of!

Mi Problema

My dear iPhone fell into the lavatory...well, it's such a slick device that nothing holds it in a shirt pocket when it wants out.

I had done the same to my iPhone1 years ago, so obviously I do not learn :).

I did all the right things to save it:

1) Switch off immediately. If the buttons let you while they're still moist...

2) Put into a bag of rice for up to 48 hours to dry it. Better yet would be to open it up, take out the battery and let it dry.

On day 3 all seemed well, but the battery didn't charge beyond 55% and could not hold the charge. By day 4 the battery did not hold any charge and was no longer chargeable.

Mi Solución

The repair is ultra easy, just like the instruction guide shows. I wish I could say more, but it was very quick. I had no idea one can get into any Apple device so easily: screws out, back off, unscrew battery connector, take out battery, put new one in etc.

If your iPhone ever drops into water do the following and there's a good chance it will make it:

2) Put into a bag of rice for up to 48 hours to dry it. Better yet would be to open it up, take out the battery and let it dry in the unplugged state.

If you need to repair an Apple device, do it yourself with the help of iFixit!
