Mi Problema

My IPod 5G display was getting more and more dead pixels, most of them appeared during the week I went snowboarding in february. The temperatures were around -25° Celsius and my display didn't like it very much (neither did my harddisk with a random 'freeze' once in a while, but that could be due to wear and tear in the past years of use). I decided to try my first ifixit repair!

Mi Solucion

The hardest part was getting the screen loose, I destroyed both the tips of the plastic opening tools in the progress! Eventually it let go and the rest was fairly easy. I managed to get most of the cables loose with what remained of the plastic tools, but had to do one with a utility knife, (I know, very risky!) but it did the job! putting it back together was very easy and it worked like a charm! I'm very happy with the result, the repair guide was very detailed!

Mi Consejo

Be very careful when handling the plastic tools because they're very fragile! My advice to the crew of iFixit is to create a tool that's a lot stronger to get the front panel loose, or make a separate tool for this. Good thing they're cheap!
