Spilled Wine

Mi Problema

A girlfriend of mine spilled some wine over her macbook. At first the keyboard and on / off switch still worked, later on the macbook kept shutting down after a while and at last it didn't power on at all.

By opening the case and short-circuiting the mainboard I managed to power on the macbook so I was certain the keyboard and on / off switch where dead.

Mi Solución

Nothing is as easy to repair as an Apple laptop. Opening up and demounting the hardware is very straightforward. The only downside is that allmost all companies use those stupid tri-wing screws so I needed to buy one of those screwdrivers.

Overall the repair went very well and was done in about half an hour.

I really want to thank the people at iFixit for providing the fast delivery service. I'm from the Netherlands (Europe) and I received the parts within two days!!!

Mi Consejo

Only one word of advice. If you are uncertain if your own tools will do the job for completing the repair without a hassle, order them directly from iFixit. I bought the 54 Bit Driver Kit provided by iFixit and I have to say it's a great kit!
