Mi Problema

My computer was not reading my hard drive. After a couple of tries rebooting, and not getting anything except a question mark on the screen I thought I was done for. Of course I hadn't backed up my computer, so I wanted to try to attach the hard drive to another computer externally to see if I could save anything. To my surprise it read the hard drive with out any disk repair software. So I started thinking: "Uh oh, what if it's the logic board?" Then I jumped on google to see if anyone had had any success with a new hard drive ribbon cable. Turns out it's a fairly common problem and I was super confident this would work, especially from IFIXIT!

Mi SoluciĆ³n

Great, I was a little nervous about bending the ribbon the correct way. The old ribbon cable had some dotted lines where the folds were supposed to be made, so that would have been helpful here. But I gently folded it in the spots that I thought looked right, and it worked great!

Mi Consejo

Take a look at your old hard drive cable to get the bends right. Also make sure you get the part that has the hard drive spacer attached to it... It would have been really difficult to try to transfer that over, well worth the few extra bucks to not have to worry about that! Have fun! Nothing like saving a computer for $40, when you thought it was going to be $200 or more!
