Mi Problema

When we ordered our Mac Mini years ago, we maxed out the RAM at 4 GB. Still runs but the new iOS and apps bogged it down constantly. Found out that the iOS upgrades allowed us to expand the RAM to 8 GB. So ordered the RAM and a few tools from iFixit to upgrade it.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

Repair instructions were very easy to follow. The thin bladed putty knife was a must in opening the case. The spudger made disconnecting the audio cable much easier! I was a little hesitant at first but just went slowly and made sure to align the Mac Mini similar to the pictures. This made it easier to see what I needed to do next. After completing the repair, our Mac Mini is back to running like a champ!

Mi Consejo

The real tricky part of this repair is the antennas! They are the only part that gave me issue. When disassembling the main body from the bottom board, I didn't notice that the rear bluetooth antenna wire was caught in the spring that holds the antenna. So, when I separated the halves, I pulled the antenna wire off the connection point on the bottom board. Oops! Luckily, it is a press fit and the spudger helped me push it back on. BE CAREFUL OF THIS! The last part was in reassembly. The larger wifi antenna wire has to be out of the way of the fan duct. They make a note of it in the instructions but don't show it. I had to take it apart again to route the wire away from the rear of the bottom board and the duct. A picture of this would have been helpful. Next time, I'll take my own pictures before I do each step so that I know where the wires go in reassembly.
