The phone would not charge and after some Internet research, it was time to give this inexpensive option a try. It was going to cost as much to open up the phone as it would have cost to move up to a 4S.

Scariest electronic procedure that I have tried. Wish I had taken pictures along the way. I was surprised when I got it back together and it turned on with about a 25% battery charge. then it charged fully and works beautifully.
Mi Consejo
Some unexpected events. The label on the 2nd tab pulled off, but the tab was intact. There was a what looked like a tab under it but it only seems to need to touch the metal underneath rather than locking into place. Peeling off the do not remove sticker was very difficult-more like scratching it off.
