Using old MacBook for HTPC with bum fan

Mi Problema

My 5 year old white MacBook was given a second life as a Home Theater PC. The problem was that it was noisy, and after playing HD video for too long, it started to stutter. I found out this was because the fan was dying (maxing out at 3200rpm), and the CPU was heating up so hot, that it was throttling back the clock speed.

Mi Solución

New fan is in place, and the unit runs like a charm, with the clamshell closed. It took 10min, although I had been inside the case before.

Mi Consejo

Keep track of the 20 or so screws it takes to get to the fan, they are all different types too. All you really need is a good #0 Phillips.
