I used one of those bean- filled wraps you put around your neck after warming it in the microwave or freezing it in the freezer. I warmed in the microwave for 90 seconds, and used it to warm the adhesive strips under the battery. The strips still tore in half but the residue was easy to remove because of the warmth from the neck warmer
