Mi Problema

After, um, 10 years! the right side fan on my 2006 vintage MBP gave up the bearings and was pretty noisy. Time to replace it.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

Repair went w/o a hitch. This is the 3rd time I've opened the machine (SSD, new keyboard) so I knew what to expect. Had the tools including the spudger from earlier forays.

Mi Consejo

It would have been nice if they included a replacement black plastic strip so be careful lifting it so you can re-use it (do NOT fully remove it, just lift the flap/edge that is attached to the fan. The Kapton tape over the connector wasn't adhering to the board either. Use a small piece of cut-up electrical tape to help both stick. Make sure you get the keyboard connector reseated properly. Don't tighten the body screws until they are all in as you may have to shift them a bit. Use the spudger gently along the front edge of the machine to help release the plastic clips holding the top/keyboard plate down. Have some canned air to clean the inside of the machine while you're in there.
