iPod 5th Generation survives again

Mi Problema

This iPod had a flaky headphone connector for quite a while. After one more fall to the ground it totally cut out. Opening it up it was easy to see that the ribbon band connecting the headphone jack assembly was broken.

Mi Solución

This was a very easy repair (especially compared to the newer iPods and iPhones). But then this iPod has been open for so many reasons before that I have to use tape to keep it from popping open.

My original iPod 5th Gen was damaged early on in its career when I was carrying it in a leaky pocket through heavy rain. I bought a reconditioned unit as replacement but kept the broken one around. Since then the two iPods have merged into one and it's till running great. Especially the battery life is so much better than any of my newer iPods, despite having to power that small hard drive.
