The screen on my iPhone 5 was damaged by a 3 foot drop to the pavement about a year ago. I replaced the phone at the time and a year later though "why not fix the broken one" so that I could gift it to someone else.

I ordered a screen with home button and camera... the fix took 15 mins with no issues.
Mi Consejo
I realized that why replace when fixing it is so cost effective and simple.
The only advice I have is to take your time.
