it went smooth - directions on the iFixit website were perfect, and the fix was so much easier than anticipated

crApple gives a 10% discount on any new item if you return a dead one. with new ipods starting at $199, that's 19.99 off. it'll cost you $23.56 for the equipment neccessary to fix the dead one (provided its the battery). No brainer - iFixit for life!
