Mi Problema

Noisy fans and very slow performance, couldn't justify replacing my old A1211 15" MBP for the sake of a few components. So got the fans from yourselves - you were cheaper than sourcing them in the UK. I sourced a SSD in the UK (Samsung 850 Pro 256GB) I know a little extreme but it has a 10 year warranty.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

It was easy to do, had already been in to clean the fans previously, so opening it up was simple having worked it out once. Fan replacement was fiddly for the left one with all the over running wires, but other than that 2 fans and a SSD in 30 minutes... job done silence restored and it runs as fast as my fusion drive iMac for most of the stuff its used for. The downside... my MBP 17" is now slow in comparison so I see another SSD purchase on the horizon, just need to save up now!

Mi Consejo

If you've not opened up your MacBook pro before the iFixit guides are excellent... I wish I'd found them previously, but was glad to know I had essentially done the right thing my first time in. The rest is simple if you take it carefully and take static precautions so as not to fry any sensitive bits. You'll wonder what all the fuss was about... simples!
