Moderate

Mi Problema

My original MacBook Pro's left fan bit the dust and started making a racket a couple of years ago. I decided at the time to save a few bucks and get a used fan from a different company. The replacement never "failed" per se, but it was never really quiet, either. It started getting slightly louder, so I took the plunge and got a new fan from IFixIt.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

The repair went very smoothly. Since I took my time and was extra-careful, the whole thing took maybe 30 minutes. I had done the repair once before, so I was fairly confident about everything. Both times, I used the IFixIt repair guide, which was quite helpful.

Mi Consejo

Always go slow and follow the repair guide to the letter. The reassembly tip of sliding your spudger into the DVD slot before snapping in the clips to reattach the case really works!

I would recommend having some of that Polyimide tape handy rather than hoping to re-stick the original tape where it was.
