Mi Problema

The original HDD crashed.

Mi Solucion

Very smooth. The how-to was right on the money. I chose to fully remove the logic board and blow out the internals with a can of air while I had it open. Was also able to finally rescue an SD card that had been lost to the Superdrive for a couple of years.

Mi Consejo

Take your time. . . .

Mi Problema

It was showing its age. Our 2013 MacBook Pro was running circles around it but cpu benchmarks show it as similar. Only difference? SSD.

Mi Solucion

Very well.

Mi Consejo

Read through all the steps, and the comments but others who’ve tried it. And the YouTube video from OWC.

Mi Problema

2011 iMac was soooo slow. Like "click an app, go do errands, come back it's open (unless it crashed already)" kind of slow. Also 1 TB hard drive getting fuller and not helping the slowness.

Mi Solucion

Repair went well. Found out that Apple added some extra screws and casing when I got my Superdrive replaced a . . .

Mi Problema

I had a friend who had bought, 2nd hand, a mid 2011, 27" iMac for his son and wanted to install an SSD into it to move the OS onto.

Mi Solucion

The repair went well up until the part after removing the optical drive. It was at this point that I started to get suspicious (whereas in reality I should have spotted . . .

Mi Problema

Wanted to add a fast SSD drive to an old iMac without removing existing HDD or optical

Mi Solucion

The repair went fine. It's a bit tedious (thanks Apple) but not crazy.

Mi Consejo

The screws holding the monitor in place are a pain to put back in due to the strong magnets nearby. Hold each screw tightly with a pair of needl . . .

Mi Problema

Slow speeds due to ancient HDD technology

Mi Solucion

Much easier than I expected. The guide was super easy to follow.

Mi Consejo

Should include a section on how to boot up the SSD once the install is complete.

Mi Problema

My iMac (mid 2011) kept restarting and stayed in that cycle. It would come up to the white screen with the Apple and shut down again. I am hours away from an Apple Store and I work on computers at my job so I thought I'd give it a try.

Mi Solucion

Turns out that I needed to use my 1GB external Hard Drive I use f . . .

Mi Problema

Wanted to make the computer faster by adding an SSD.

Mi Solucion

It wasn't easy but the guide was spot on and the tools were completely appropriate. Just such small gaps and connectors for my clumsy big man hands.

Mi Consejo

Worked as described in the tutorial but frustrating for the average adult man. But so happy with the . . .

Mi Problema

Replaced main hard drive with new ssd

Mi Solucion

Repair went good. Instructions were well detailed and I was easily able to add new ssd.

Mi Consejo

Instructions did not warn that as soon as you add a none apple hard drive that the fan will go max speed. Was able to find a 3rd party app on my own to make the fan use an inte . . .

Mi Problema

I just need to speed up the read and write speed of the disk, installing and using a second hard drive such as SSD will do the job.

Mi Solucion

Taking out the optical drive and replacing it with an SSD went well just having some difficulty in putting back the logic board it took me a while to insert in back in t . . .
