Can one key be replaced?

I bought my Macbook Pro just last year in August. Since then I've had absolutely no trouble with it until this week. For some reason my A, S, E and L buttons started acting irritatically, I would press A, S or E and it could come up AL or EL or SL. Since then, it stopped doing that, however, now my L button doesn't work at all. No matter how hard I press it, nothing works. I've tried lifting up the key, cleaning underneath it and it didn't work. Right now i'm having to use the on screen viewer keyboard for L, which you can imagine is very annoying. I was wondering if I would be able to replace that one single key for it to work or if I'd have to replace the entire keypad. Also, if I did have to replace the entire keypad, what sort of price would it be? As if it's too expensive, I may just purchase a wireless keyboard instead. Thanks.

I have the same problem but my annoying key is 'z' and when i press, x, c, v, b, n, m, it starts to type, xz,cz, zv, nz etc... how did you fix yours? Cheers

If the key is jammed down because the silicone nipple is missing you can get one of those and stick it down so that the key will lift.

My z key has been doing one of four things in the last 6 months:

1. the key works correctly

2. the key doesn't work at all

3. the key is stuck forever like i'm keeping my finger on it

4. the key presses itself randomly while i'm typing.

When the key doesn't work, my S key sometimes doesn't register when pressed, and LeftCmd+X doesn't work at all, whereas RightCmd+X does.

Very rarely, closing and opening the lid fixes it, but it hasn't worked in weeks for me. Resetting the SMC, PRAM, in Safe Mode, etc… has never worked.

You might find single key on e-bay from a damaged machine... since it's so new maybe a genius could get one ordered for you. The keyboard appears to one with the top case.

If you can take it to a genius bar they may be able to swap a key to be certain it is a key, not a keyboard problem. They may also be able to give you a Depot repair price that's not too out of line.
