Does the accelerator pedal function again at higher speeds if you briefly touch the brake pedal or if you disengage the cruise control function by pushing the cruise control stalk to the 2nd position to turn it off?
If it does there may be a problem with the cruise control system.
Have the vehicle's OBDII port (Q7-4L models Q7-4M models) scanned to see if any DTC codes have been logged which may tell you what the problem is.
