I want to install a windows xp.iso, can it be in iso format or do i need to change it? Burned iso as is!

So, which HP Compaq is it? HP Compaq is the vendor, what is the model. You ISO will have to be turned into a bootable disk.

Not sure of model, all i can find is model number...MXD3360G8J. How do I change the iso to a bootable disk?

Do you have access to something like UltraISO? that is what I use for my ISO files. I think Nero does it too. How you are going to do it depends on your software. the best thing to do is to first identify what beast you are dealing with. Get the freeware to identify your computer from here http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard...

The main problem seems to be getting in, i cant get past the login screen and the bootable cd i made i think the computer does not recognize. The cd light lights up for a moment and the bios is set to recognize it first but still does not work, no installation is started from the cd itself. I downloaded the program you suggested but how can i get it to tell me anything if i cant get in? I know i have been a real pain but the computer worked great till i screwed up the login information. Again I aplogize for being such a idiot and thank you very much for all your help.

Does the disk that you burned work in another computer. Are you certain you converted the ISO file properly? Not that I doubt you, but it has to be checked to make sure. From what you are saying, the optical drive does not recognize it as a boot device.
