iPhone 4 screen not working after drop phone works

I dropped my phone today in the bathroom, after looking at the phone there is no physical damage to the exterior. After trying to unlock the phone the screen remained black. I tried both Home and Power button nothing. I can turn it from vibrate to normal with no problem and I can still receive calls if i use my ear piece. If i disconnect the ear piece i can still talk but not hang up the call now I am out of ideas. Was able to do the hard reset (Home and power button) Phone turned off and on and still screen remained dark. Phone can still sync to computer just since its locked im unable to do anything. As well unable to power off phone since I can not see when it says swipe to turn off. What needs to be repaired or ideas

My first step would be to re-connect the LCD Flex Cable. Very unusual for iP4 because of the overlying shield, but maybe it was jarred loose during the drop. Turn iPhone OFF and check it out.

Your LCD probably got disconnected. Open your iPhone and check the LCD connections.

same thing happened to me. however my screen comes up with stripes of colours. I read somewhere that removing the back and checking if the LCD connection hasnt come loose during the impact. i am still yet to order in the screw driver to be able to remove the back but ill let you know the results

Hi Josh

I have the same stripes after dropping my iphone. Did the LCD reconnect thing work for you?

Cheers

Hi Debra, unfortunately my phone sustained a little more damage, than just a faulty connection from the LCD. It was $70 to replace, which included a brand new screen as well as a new LCD (apparently they come as a package) WHATEVER YOU DO, do not go to apple for replacements, they charge ridiculously high for simple repairs.

If you have ordered or already own a set of iphone repair kit, i highly recommended giving the LCD a reconnect. It is straight forward and takes a few minutes. With better luck than me your screen should be able to be revived. I myself as an amateur repairer was able to complete everything in 10 minutes.

If you end up giving it a go let me know the outcome

Best of luck! Josh

Had this happen to me on my 4S today. Seems to work fine (I can scroll through the app pages & slide to unlock it) but I got lines and off colors on my screen so I can't tell what I'm doing other than unlocking the phone & scrolling through pages. This was from dropping it on the hard floor in my garage. My contract is up so I'm due to get a new phone at a contract discount. I'll see if verison thinks its worth fixing but I might just upgrade to a 5S which is only $150 to $200 under my contract now. I hope its just a faulty connection from the screen to the motherboard that got jostled as others say.
