Repair and disassembly guides for Samsung printers.

Preguntas 101 Ver todo

Why is the printer only printing part of the text/image?

My Samsung CLX 3175 printer used to print normally until the power port at the rear was damaged. The printer turns on normally and scans normally, but the printing only gets done a very tiny section of the image, which is always the same (approx one inch of the left side of what's on the page). There are no traces of ink whatsoever in the rest of the page.

I went through all the possible troubleshooting that the repair service suggested but nothing changed. I think this might have something to do with the circuit board moving or a hard-ware related issue, but I'm not definetely sure.

I would really appreciate if someone could give me an insight into this problem as it does seem the printer is repairable.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I had the same problem and I found the fix:

After opening and closing the printer because of "deve home sensor error", printer was printing only small maybe 25mm stripe on the left side of the paper. After a bit of research I found a small part on the floor, that surely fell out and I didn't know where to put it back, also I thought that it can't have any connection with false printint. After some time I figured where the part should be, I put it back and since then printer is printing flawlessly! I was so amazed, that I removed the part again and stripe printing came back, when I put this little plastic part back again, everything was ok.

I still see no logic in this, but it really works:)

Thank you Pohistvo123! Your answer absolutely saved my printer, which had by now become a huge bulky scanner which I was about to get rid of it. The craziest thing was that I had actually saved that ridiculous piece of plastic years ago and had no recollection of it. So as I reinstalled the software once again hoping that would work, I took a look at a tin where I save all sorts of stuff which I don't know where it belongs to, and ...there it was! This is incredible, my printer is back on track. Thank you so much for sharing!

sounds to me as you have a bad install you need to reinstall it all again.

Had the same problem but now sorted, this is what i did.

Uninstalled all the software for my printer deleted the printer from the compter unplug the printer from the network and power, restarted the pc then reinstall printer software, need to install it like it's the first time you installed it, connect the printer when told to by the software.

Hope this helps.

aless, right now any for sure answer is pretty much impossible, it would only be a guessing game. Since it worked until the power port broke, I would suggest you start with that. Disassemble your printer, repair the broken part, then re-evaluate.

Hi oldturkey, thanks for replying. Actually, I wasn't clear about the fact that I repaired the power port, and thus all functions went back to normal except for the printing...I am definetely willing to dissasemble the whole device but wouldn't know really where to look for the broken part. What and how I should repair it?

- de

When you repaired it and re-assembled it, did you double.no, triple check your work? How did you fix it?

- de

The power port was broke only superficially - the plastic holder which holds it into the plastic external body-. I glued it back in place. The power itself was not affected. Since, the printer turned on normally, warms up as usual, etc., I triple checked all of the operations, and the was the only one which always comes out wrong in the same manner -very curious manner by the way (as I tell in my original description). I have a feeling that when the device had this bump that broke part of the plastic, it might have shaken something inside which moved and made bad contact since. BUT the problem is that as I have no idea on what depends the printing result, or what is the usual fuctionning of a printer inside, I do not know where or how to start.

Do you have an idea of what I might have to investigate first?

I have the exact same problem.

My printer stopped working with a "system error, please cycle power" error message.

I changed the fuser which has cleared the error, but I am now only able to print a 30mm stripe on the left hand side.

I am nor sure whether the fuser that i replaced is faulty or it is now a different issue.

a service call out was about £169 and a new printer is only about £180!

It seems like it had something to do with this power issue or the electronic board... I'm still waiting for someone who has the slightest clue on how to repair this to appear. As you say, it is not worth a service call out!

Hi Alexandre,

I haven't found a solution yet, but still willing to get more insight into this issue to solve it (my printer is still at home as I use the scanner).

How did your printer start doing this, Alexandre?

Did you reach any conclusions, Mark?

If someone can contribute with any idea or solution, please post! thanks.
