No battery detected but am using a new battery

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the Microsoft ACPI Complaint Control Method battery driver in Device Manager and check if that resolves the problem.

To get to Device Manager in Win10 press the Win key + x key (both keys together) and click on the Device Manager link in the menu options box that opens.

When in Device Manager go to Battery → right click on the Microsoft ACPI Complaint Control Method battery entry in the category → Uninstall device and follow the prompts.

Once it has been uninstalled, close all open windows and then restart the laptop in the normal manner.

When the laptop restarts, Windows will reinstall the battery drivers.

Just verifying that you installed a replacement battery that has one of the following HP parts numbers shown on it?

631243-001

634087-001

634089-001

628668-001

628670-001

659083-001

628664-001

Note: If earlier Windows versions are installed e.g. Win7, navigate to Control Panel → Device Manager and then follow the same procedure.
