Wine spill in rear vent

I was working on my new MacBook Pro when a glass of wine was spilled on the back of my raised screen. It ran down the back and entered the vent along the back. My screen immediately went black, hard disk & fans stopped spinning.

Attempt to reboot failed. I disconnected power & opened the case & found some wine in the bottom case and a very little on the disk drive & board. I wiped it up & let it dry overnight.

Attempt to reboot next morning failed: no fans, no hard disk, no sounds. Magsafe light is green when connected.

Because the liquid came up from the bottom (not down through the keyboard) I can't imagine why my machine bricked up. Suggestions?

You may need to contact your insurance agent and see what your home owners or tenant policy will pay on this. There may be some salvage value also.

I took most of it apart and cleaned what I could with 91% alcohol. I let it dry for an hour, put it back together and it booted right up. When from a brick to a Mac. Thanks very much tigerimac and mayer.

You have probably had some wine get on the main logic board and possibly the topcase. ( Power button is affected when topcase has liquid interaction.) If you are comfortable taking the unit apart you may need to remove all the main parts, clean the parts carefully with alcohol (90% +) let dry COMPLETELY and then attempt a reboot. Please include the exact model of MBP that you have for me to be clearer as to the configuration of the Power button parts.

Don't have exact model. It is a week-old MacBook Pro 13" standard config. Serial no: C1MGV8ATDV13 if that helps. I bought it at a discount after the new 13" were announced last week.
