The loud noise would be because the fan is running at max speed. That happens when the fan is very dirty and can't blow air so the CPU overheats and shuts down.
Clean it out. Take the covers off. Take it outside. BLOW it out with compressed air or the back side of a vacuum cleaner.
DO NOT try to vacuum it out.
