Heatsink has broken at the attachment to the case
Can this be fixed somehow or is it wasted?

I'd imagine that would require some sort of soldering or welding in order to make a good thermal and mechanical connection to the broken part. Given that, wouldn't it make more sense just to spend the $3 US to buy a new one?

Yes true, I have a few spares anyway but was just curious if it could be welded someway.
@livfe I salute your dedication to repair, but even I had to learn that sometimes you just have to let go, and I'd say this is probably one of those times.

@danj Heatsinks are same for 2013-2017 right? I know that the 2011 and 2012 are different. MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013 through Early 2015) Heat Sink
I've rarely replaced them. But I believe so.
