The black coax cable pulled it's attachment off of the motherboard during my recent DIY job on my p20 pro. Strangely, it doesn't seem to have made any difference to the function of the phone though. Bluetooth, WiFi, mobile data and phone calls are all functioning as normal, as are both microphones and speakers. I'd ready appreciate any advice/help.

Check how far away from your WiFi router that the phone's WiFi still connects to it and maintains a stable connection.
The coax lead is an antenna and is used to increase the distance at which the WiFi works.
Same with BT although by design its range is limited to 10 metres
Usually a loose or faulty antenna limits the range to a few metres

Thanks Jayeff. WiFi and mobile data seem normal upstairs in my bedroom with a closed door too (router is downstairs). Is it possible that the coax cable is still making a connection despite it's receiving socket on the motherboard being missing. I put the coax cable roughly where it should be when I put the phone back together, so I wonder if it has fortuitously found a resting place with a connection.
My upload speed on mobile data might be a tad slower but I'm not sure if a coax cable would even affect mobile data speeds.
As long as one end is still connected it may still work OK. Seems a though the phone has two WiFi antennas. Probably to increase stability of connection
You may be lucky that there's still one end connected to a board.
All this is a guess as I don't have any schematics for the phone.
