Replacement battery won’t charge fully, been on charger 20 hours

Replaced battery with replacement from ifixit. Was at 14% out of the box, charging stalled at 69% for hours and after unplugging and plugging back in it’s stuck after 10 more hours at 74%. Contacts are clean and using OEM Apple charger. What do I do next?

This is after unplugging and plugging in several times. It’s been charging for the better part of two days and the charging with wattage goes down from about 5 to 0 if that’s significant. Have never had an issue with temp until putting this battery in. Again I’m thinking it’s just a garbage battery but tell me if you see something different.

@dsmith32472 what's the temperature of the area where the Macbook Air is located while you work on it? Do you still have the old battery? Why did you replace that one? If you still have it, connect it and see what that is charging with. It is possible that you have received a bad battery. All you have to do is to contact iFixit and they will make it right.

Let’s get a better view on what’s going on. Install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the Apps main window here so we can see things while the charger is plugged in.

@danj I tried positing pics of what coconut battery showed. Not sure if they came through or not but what was interesting is that I’m using a 45 watt OEM Apple charger and it showed it was charging with like 5 watts? Is that normal?

Actually it’s down to 1.89 watts now?

@dsmith32472 - At this point the battery appears to be on the warm side 92 F! The charging logic is designed to drop down or fully stop charging when the battery temp is too high.

So I’m not too worried about that at this point in time. You could shutdown the system and let the system cool down for a few hours and try charging the system again while monitoring CoconutBattery to see what happens with nothing else running.

@danj so I powered down let it cool and plugged back in. It’s been charging that way for several hours and hasn’t moved. It says it’s charging at 0 watts even though it “shows” it’s charging. I think they just sold me a junk battery.

Also the temp during that time charging didn’t get above like 26 C.
