Time to replace the Battery if it’s bloated. If the battery was bloated it could have bent the uppercase slightly, but that should be visible.
The battery shouldn’t affect the trackpads mounting. Review this guide MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Trackpad Replacement make sure the shims are in place and the gap is equal around the edge.
