While attempting to remove the nest doorbell without the correct tool, I accidentally popped the front plate from the rear portion. The ribbon cable that joined the two was severed. Called Google, but they don't seem to have these kinds of replacement parts. It seems a shame to trash the unit for lack of a small cable. Any ideas?

Sorry about that, it seems to have been sold (and quite expensive for a used one).
I’m not sure if it is possible but you could look at buying some ribbon cable from Altronics website and repair the broken ribbon.
