LCD Case Compat. between systems (Orange Color Backlight Flex. Cable)

MB Air A1466 13" LCD Top Case Compatibility (Orange Color Backlight Flex Cable)

The orange and white striped plastic flex cable for the backlight has broken away from the top back case, I have some other top back cases as spares 2011, 2013 and 2015-17 laying around but I believe they are incompatible as the thin board they connect to are all different. I guess there is no repair for this.

https://www.powerbookmedic.com/Macbook-A... would this include the cable?

@livfe Since the part is a pull form another system I would assume that it will be included. To much work to disconnect it etc. :-) I suggest that you contact powerbookmedic and see if it is included. They are very helpful and I have dealt with them multiple times before.

@oldturkey03 Yes I have emailed them waiting a reply. I think it's easier to source a broken scrap unit as any parts wouldn't be cost effective... been quoted $50 by a local breaker here... politely declined. It's part of the lid so removal is near impossible it seems. Can I use another lid from any model?

@oldturkey03 Yes no good for me... need 2012. Got them all except 2013 ....

@livfe the backlight strip itself shows compatibility from late 2010 to early 2015. Of all the places it is available at, AliExpress has them ;-)

The complete lid panel is available at the Bookyard Looks like it may have the backlight in it.

@livfe the part from powerbookmedic is compatible with the following

MacBook Air 13.3" 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo (A1237) - Early 2008 MB003LL/A

MacBook Air 13.3" 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo (A1304) - Late 2008 MB543LL/A

MacBook Air 13.3" 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo (A1304) - Late 2008 MB940LL/A

MacBook Air 13.3" 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo (A1304) - Mid 2009 MC233LL/A

MacBook Air 13.3" 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo (A1237) - Early 2008 MB003LL/A

MacBook Air 13.3" 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo (A1304) - Mid 2009

yours is a 2012 so if anything it looks like a 2013 "might" fit. If you have it there, give it a try.

Thank to @oldturkey03 It needs a new backlight strip which I have ordered from the Backyard store in UK.

@livfe Woop Woop! I love it when a good plan comes together. Hope it'll get all three MBA's back on the road and a long distance away from the rubbish pile :-)

Well done!
