New Battery Installed, Health is good, But it won't charge.

Bought a new Battery for my laptop, turned it on and plugged in my power adapter. The light did not turn on, and it's not registering as plugged in. Battery health is good. (Photo attached)

Prior battery required servicing, but is now not charging either.

I've tried all the resetting tips so far. Including unplugging the battery and just using power from the adapter.

I've got another charger being delivered tonight.

However, if it is not the battery, or the charger then what is it?

I/O board? Data cable? Magsafe port?

Update:

The MagSafe port on the logic board was cracked which meant it wasn't connected properly. I've now superglued the cable in and it is charging fine. Thanks for the help, sorry for the bother, I should have given it a once over previously.

If the MagSafe charger cords LED is not lighting then it’s either a bad charger or a bad connection at the MagSafe port.

Did you try cleaning the system connector area as often dirt buildup in the insulator area can prevent the contacts to even touch where they need to. I find a cotton swab with a kitchen cleaner works best, then wipe it down again with isopropyl alcohol to fully remove the soap film.

It’s also possible the contacts are dirty as well use a pink pencil eraser (still soft) and scrub the contact surfaces. And lastly the insulator can distort from heat caused by a weak battery which causes a lot current to pass through. At which point you’ll need a new MagSafe connector MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2015) MagSafe 2 DC-In Board and here’s the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement

If nothing changes then the charging logic within the logic board needs repairs. Sometimes the MOSFETs which switch the power around get damaged.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to avoid having to buy more parts.

The LED isn't lighting, I will try with a new charger arriving tonight.

I've cleaned the charging port and the charging pins. I'm presuming the port is the system connector? And the insulation prevents the magsafe pins from moving when connected?

Thanks for your help. It wouldn't be the data cable or I/o board as I've seen you reference them in your previous replies?

@danieljone77026 - The I/O board is with the older MacBook Air as the MagSafe was part of it MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board. The data cable is for the I/O boards needs not the MagSafe connection if you review the guide I posted you’ll see the MagSafe connects to the main logic board directly.

Ah okay, thanks for the clarification. I will update after I get the new charger.

Hi Daniel,

If you haven't tried already, I would attempt to reset your SMC (System Management Controller) to give a soft reboot of sorts to your components and their detection. Furthermore, sometimes Apple Macs may need you to recalibrate the battery.

Thanks for the reply. Tried this and it didn't work. By calibrate do you mean charging to 100% and then using to 0%. Because I can't charge unfortunately!

@danieljone77026 disregard the calibration, that was a mistake on my part. I'd advise you follow Dans advice here.
