Closing screen won't put to sleep?

Recently, Apple replaced my logic board, screen, and battery. Now, what I think is the reed switch that is activated by the screen closing is either not working or isn't connected properly. I did do a RAM upgrade once I got my mac back from the store. Could it have been me messing up something during the upgrade, or is it something else? I also found out that my optical drive doesn't work too.

I took it back to apple, and the guy who replaced the logic board apparently forgot to connect the reed switch to the logic board. They also put in a completely new optical drive, but it still wouldn't work. I just got a new logic board, and it works fine now! Thanks!

On different years they put the the magnets on different sides of the system (Obviously reed switches too.). Take a magnet along both sides of the screen when you find the magnet the magnet in your hand will react. Now slowly run the magnet down the opposite side of the uppercase (keyboard part), from where you found the magnet in the upper clam shell. If that puts it to sleep you found your problem. If the whole upper clam shell was replaced with a different year motherboard, that would explain the "why". Please let us know the results of this.

Please give us the last 3 characters of your serial number, so we can define your exact machine.

The sleep/wake magnet probably fell out when they replaced your screen. Take it back to Apple and have them look into it. Have Apple replace your optical drive if it's still within warranty. If not, then buy a used one and replace it yourself.

Go into system preferences and select energy saver and adjust your settings to see if your laptop will go to sleep. Also, turn off your application called Caffeine, because that program inhibits sleep mode.
