Why is Home button acting weird after dock connector water exposure?
The dock connector plug on my car charger got dunked in a water/soda mix and I didn't notice it when I went to plug it into my phone to charge. I heard my phone stop charging after a short bit and upon inspecting the dock connector, I found water by the dock connector plug. I quickly attempted to dry out both the dock connector and cable that plugs into it.
My home button started acting weird like it was stuck down. Sometimes voice control would activate randomly but I could never get the button to respond to a press. Is it possible the water that got in and on the dock connector from the charging cable messed with the home button? Is it possible there's a short from the sticky soda on the dock connector pins causing the home button to act like it's randomly stuck down?
I disassembled my iPhone to attempt drying out the Home button, but it looks like that wasn't possible. My home button starting working fine for a short bit after reassembly, but then went back to the erratic Voice Control behavior and then stopped responding to presses again. Does this help diagnose the problem any?
