I’m sorry to hear that your Nitro 5 AN515-54 laptop is shutting down before starting the OS or BIOS. This could be due to various reasons, such as a faulty power supply, a corrupted boot sector, a hardware failure, or a software glitch. Here are some possible solutions that you can try:

  • You can try to perform a power drain by following these steps^^1^^:
    • Turn off the laptop and unplug the charger.
    • Look at the back of your unit and find a small pinhole.
    • Put a paper clip in the pinhole and press and hold the paper clip for 40 seconds.
    • Plug in the charger and turn on the laptop.
  • You can try to reset the BIOS to default settings by following these steps2:
    • Press the power button, and as soon as you press the power button, start pressing the F2 key repeatedly, so that you can see the BIOS page.
    • In the BIOS page, press F9 and press ENTER.
    • Then press F10 and press ENTER.
    • Your unit will restart.
  • You can try to check if your HDD/SSD is detected by the BIOS and if the Windows Boot Manager is at the top of the boot order by following these steps2:
    • Press the power button, and as soon as you press the power button, start pressing the F2 key repeatedly, so that you can see the BIOS page.
    • In the BIOS page, go to Information and check if your HDD/SSD is listed under SATA Mode or RST with Optane Mode.
    • Then go to Boot and check if Windows Boot Manager is at the top of the Boot Priority Order. If not, use the arrow keys and F5/F6 keys to move it up.
    • Press F10 and press ENTER to save and exit.
  • You can try to boot into Safe Mode and repair your Windows by following these steps3:
    • Start and shut down your laptop quickly with the power button three or four times in a row to trigger Windows Recovery Environment (RE).
    • You should see a screen with options like “Continue”, “Troubleshoot”, “Turn off your PC”.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
    • After your PC restarts, press F4 or 4 to enter Safe Mode.
    • In Safe Mode, you can try to restore your Windows to an earlier point by typing rstrui.exe in the Command Prompt, or reset your PC without losing your data by typing systemreset in the Command Prompt.

I hope this helps you fix your Nitro 5 AN515-54 laptop shutting down problem. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. 😊
