Removing the glass from the trackpad

Hello to all think alike minds!!

I would like to know if its possible to remove the glass from the trackpad on macbook pro unibody

My main goal is that I'm trying to color my macbook like colorware does. only they are not available at my country so I decided to do it myself (half way done //colored the entire body and back of the screen) but i have no ideas how they do it on the trackpad.

from what i have figured so far is that the trackpad is colored(originally) much like the glass parts of the iPhone 4/4s.from the other side of the glass)

i don't know if its possible to remove the glass of the trackpad from the sensor pad it attached to and color it (without losing the sensitivity) but i do know that colorWARE does it somehow!

maybe on top of the glass ??

any thoughts and suggestions would be highly appreciated

I have a few 'graveyard' trackpads here. I will take a look now and see if I am able to do this for you.

Personal opinion - A colored film, transparent or not, with adhesive to it over the glass is going to be your best bet.

How did you color it? I got a late 2008 macbook pro that is gonna be completely disassembled- it would be cool to color it while I am tearing it down! :)

You can heat up the glue that holds the trackpad together and then remove the glass form the sensor. you would then need to 'scrape' away the silver colouring that is painted onto the underside of the glass. I am not sure how you would then go about colouring the glass before re-seating the sensor back against the glass. Also I do not know how sensitive this would then be after this process.

You need to be very carefull doing this as the glass shatters into very very fine splinters if bent too much.

Hope this helps,

Wes
