Just replaced the processor and RAM and will not post
I inherited an iMac 2006 Early and read that I could upgrade the Processor to an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz T7600. I have a lot of experience tearing down PC's and regular laptops. So tearing down this Mac, even though it was my first one, was not a challenge I was worried about.
Maybe I spoke too soon. I replaced the processor and then put in new RAM. When I went to boot it up for the 1st time, I got power, I heard the HDD spin up very slowly and that was it. No Apple logo, no chime, no screen.
To start some diagnosis:
- I have pulled out the power and left for 15 seconds to reset the SMB
- I have pulled out all the RAM and installed the previous RAM. Did not work.
- I have pulled out all the RAM and left it with system memory only. Did not work.
- I have held down the power button while plugging in the power. This only resulted in the fan going at full blast and nothing else.
I have the case off again. I have read about Diagnostic LED's, can not find them, and have read that they are not on the 2006 Early version of the iMac (1st intel version).
Before tearing this thing down again and putting back in the old processor, I would like to know what else I could do, or what I could have done.
This is driving me nuts.
Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Since this seems to no longer be a Question I'm marking it remove. . . Unless someone wants to change the last update to an Answer??
