My son is looking to replace the lcd in his iphone 3. He cracked it after replacing the digitizer and following poor instuctions and he flexed the lcd. Now we are looking for higher quality parts than sold on Amazon or ebay, but if we pay more want to make sure we are actually getting more. Are the parts sold on ifixit genuine apple parts?

It differs on a part-to-part basis. Many replacement parts are genuine apple part numbers, however some proprietary parts (such as the clear rear cover for the iPhone 4 or custom-assembled tool kits) are either custom designed by or for iFixit specifically.
As far as Apple parts are concerned, Apple genuine parts are made in China as are the vast majority of replacements for them. In some cases (tools specifically), iFixit offers an American-made alternative with extended warranties.

Is there anyway to find out before I shell out 100 buks for a part if it is a real apple part? Someone to call or email?
