The tech I use here in Costa Rica says I should buy the CPU and Logic Board. Seems like overkill perhaps. One majotrproblem is unavailability of long shaft hex drivers to disassemble the cpu.mobo!

First try removing and resetting your ram--if you have more than one pair try leaving one pair out at a time.

Unplug your machine, disconnect your ethernet and any other peripherals. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds. Reconnect the power cable and start up. Check the date and time, if incorrect, replace the PRAM battery. Zap the PRAM, here's how: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1939

Unplug the power - from socket, then from PM G5. Removal door and plastic fan shield/guide. ground yourself and ensure you & PM are not on the same carpet - preferable non at all.

Remove the CPU/RAM fan. under the bottom bank of RAM there is a tiny silver button, press it, re-install everything previously removed. Power on unit(on Last 2005 PM they have no PMU ... this function is the SMU which I gave to reset.

I kinda hate to say this, but you probably need a new machine. You can browse ebay and see if you can score a model like yours for the right price, swap HD's and go from there. Maybe it'll last a few years. I've found out that much of the time it is far easier (and cheaper) to replace rather than repair. If you can sell your old machine for parts then all the better. I have a model like yours, tried all these suggestions and no results. I looked inside to see how much trouble I'd get into replacing the logic board and possibly the processors and come to the conclusion that Apple does not want you to repair them. So, I found one like mine on ebay for around $200 and hopefully I can just swap HD's, like I mentioned. Sine the introduction of the intel models these older PPC's art getting much cheaper. Anyway good luck, hopefully your issues can be settled easily.

G5's worst range of computers produced by Apple. it's a wonder they didn't go bust!

I have been with APPLE since 84 and all the other 14 models from 2c still work however the dual 1.8 - dual 2.0 and dual 2.5 have been nightmares!
