I'd open the dsi following the guide to the right under the photo. Remove the d- board (the little mini board that the battery sits on) turn it over and you will find the F1 fuse, check with a multimeter but I suspect the greatest damage you've done is blown that fuse. You can buy the d-board separately on ebay. I bought mine for under 5uk pounds. It's a whole heap cheaper than a new motherboard..

There is is an F2 fuse on the motherboard that may be blown. Also many times people pull the red or black wire out of the socket (slightly and looks good but isn't) that connects the power board to the motherboard when unattaching it or pull the header up slightly on the motherboard. I would check for continuity between the battery connecter and those points. I would also check to see if the prongs on the battery connector are in there correctly.

thanks for the + AB, I've mostly got my DSi going thanks to your advice..

I made the same mistake today. And yes, only the fuse F1 on the "Power Switch Circuit Board" has been destroyed. After bridging the contacts of the fuse (a little bit risky, but I've also tested battery interface on main board to a short circuit before), the DSi could be turned on again.

Yes, as Nick said, you most likely did fry your motherboard. The DSI does not have any sort of reverse polarity protection, so trying to run it with the battery in backwards will fry the motherboard. Unfortunately, you will probably need to replace the motherboard. Luckily, we have a guide for doing so right here!

Hope this helps! Good luck; let us know how it goes!

I also revesed the polarity and the Fuse F1 on the D-board got busted.

I just used a soldering iron and bridged the fuse.

Worked fine for me but it's a bit risky.

So I still ordered a new d-board form ebay.
