How can I fix this?

I have been in the process of replacing my mother board and as I was following the instructions to remove one in reverse so that I could put the new one in, a small cable connector popped off.

I believe it’s for the battery and logic board connection. And it was on the battery side. Is there anyway to fix it? Nothing seems to be broken it just popped off.

Attached are photos. Please help I am a student and need a computer. Thank you in advance

It looks like you lifted the battery side connector off the logic board. Can you take a tighter picture of the logic board and the back side of the connector. You likely need to use some strong lighting to get a good picture.

@Kealan Sucher - This might be salvageable! Do you have access to a hot air rework station? That’s should be able to remount the connector. You will need to protect the area with Polyimide tape so you don’t over heat things.

That's the port to the battery data cable connecting to the battery board. Unfortunately, the battery board is permanently connected to the battery. So, if you aren't able to solder the port back onto the battery board, you'll need to replace the whole battery. There may be an easier way to repair the connections between the battery board and the port that broke off, but I can't recommend any to a DIYer.

Here's the replacement battery, which shows the battery board with the port (for reference).

If you are interested in fixing the connector yourself before buying a new battery, try securing the port to the solder points in the exact same position it originally was in. Maybe tape will do the job, or maybe glue, but it needs to be secure enough so it never moves under normal use. Another method to try is to solder it back together. Use protection for your hands before applying heat and don't let the battery get hot. Apply some solder flux to the connections on the battery board, get the board really hot to where the solder is soft, and press the port exactly into position.
