This is not how you ask a situation-specific technical question. Without telling us what laptop you have, what current RAM you have, it is impossible to know.
You can upload a picture of the laptop model, the RAM slot and the existing RAM stick with label on it to let people know.

Ok thanks, now I have included pics of the current ram which is 2gig and 8gig ram that I want to upgrade to and how old is my laptop can you help me ?
@makalo if your laptop has 2 RAM slots, always buy 2 4G sticks instead of one 8G stick. Plenty of deals of these online but they are pretty old now.
Also make sure your laptop is compatible with 64bit Windows and install it, otherwise RAM above 3G is pointless.

DDR3 ram will not work in ram slots that specify that DDR3L ram is required. (check specifications of computer)
DDR3L is dual voltage ram i.e. it will work at either 1.35V or 1.5V.
DDR3 ram will only work at 1.5V.
So if you're going to upgrade then get DDR3L to avoid any problems
