Hi acamp31,

Can you elaborate on what issues you're having? What symptoms do you see? Is this something that started recently? Has there been any change or damage to the phone that's happened, such as a repair, being dropped, getting wet, a firmware update, etc.?

Just in general, there are about four areas that usually cause problems with charging.

  1. Charger
Chargers can fail and not put out any or enough power to charge the phone. Try a different charger.
  2. Charging cord
The cords can fray internally or externally and may look fine but have internal breaks that keep them from working. Try a different cord to verify.
  3. Charging port
The part of the phone that gets the most wear and tear, generally being plugged and unplugged at least once a day if not more. Ports can get contaminated with dust, lint, dirt, etc and fail to make proper contact with the cord. Clean with isopropyl alcohol (90% concentration or higher; don't use the 70% stuff we all have around the house), a microfiber cloth and maybe a toothpick or other non-metallic pick type object.
The ports are also susceptible to damage, and the internal pins can get bent or broken, and the circuit board connections can get knocked or torn off resulting in bad or no connection to the motherboard. Generally replacement is necessary in those cases; for your phone it's complicated by the fact (as far as I can tell) your charging port is soldered directly to the motherboard so you can't just replace a separate piece - you'd have to remove the motherboard and it will take someone experienced with microsoldering to fix it.
  4. Battery
Cell phone batteries do wear out over time, and given your phone model is like five years old, it may well be nearing the end if its life. There are apps you can download that will analyze the state of your battery's health, and some batteries swell up at the end of their life, so on occasion you can tell if the battery is failing by examining it; if it's swollen and looks more like a pillow than a brick, then it's definitely time for replacement.

Without knowing more about your phone's situation that's about all I can offer for you now.
