2005 Chrysler Sebring starter doesn't stop running after engine starts

Starter keeps running, does not disengage, after car starts. It is not the starter or fly wheel. Something electrical keeps it running until the armature is ruined. Four starters completely ruined. It is not the solenoid or starter. Does not happen every time, but every 3 or 4 times it is started.

@oldsoupy what engine size is it? Just to verify and not to be critical but how did you check the starter and solenoid? Have you had a chance to check your ignition lock/setup?

@oldsoupy if you are certain that it is not your starter/solenoid etc. then I would go ahead and see if it is the TIPM. Jeep/Chrysler have a real issue with their TIPM and your starter gets "activated from/through that. Try an OBD scan and see if you get any codes coming back. Not all codes throw the service engine light etc. Of course, check the wiring for ground errors and your ignition key as well but ultimately, I would focus on the wiring of the TIPM

Where did you find picture diagram. It is not readable. You have been very helpful and when it warms up a little, I am going to take the TIMP apart and do an OBD scan.

Once again, thank you,

John

@oldsoupy If you click on the pictures they will enlarge. I just tried and works for me. Let me know if you can't do that and I see if I can send you the diagram

Once again thank you. I can read the diagram, but it does not copy all the info when it is printed.
That is alright as I will read it on my laptop. Once again thank you. It will be alot of work which I do
not want to do as it will probably not be worth it. Tomorrow will be warmer so I maybe outside taking
the car apart. I would like to throw a stick of dynamite into it.
Thanks again,
John

@oldsoupy no dynamite just yet ;-). I know how it feels. Sometimes it's just one of those things. No fun wrenching in the cold. If this does not reveal anything, we got a whole bunch more that we can come up with. I just dislike Chryslers TIPM stuff. Absolute trash and a PITA to fix.

@oldturkey03, @oldsoupy I can empathize completely. At one point I was so frustrated with a Volvo I owned that I put the following message on my answering machine:

"You know how much trouble I've been having with my Volvo lately, so if you're hearing this, I'm out pushing it over a cliff. At the sound of the beep, say goodbye."
