Error has occurred DS games?

2ds xl. No homebrew, been reformatted. Console recognizes both DS and 3DS games. Plays 3ds games fine but when entering DS games it makes a slight pop sound and gives error every time. Multiple DS games were tried and all authentic games. Also after reformatting console takes a couple minutes to boot back up, stays on a black screen for a little while.
