iPhone 8 new battery does not work / old one does

Hi,

I replaced the battery of my iPhone 8. I have done this before so I made sure not to touch any other components.

PROBLEM: The phone does not charge, it is stuck at 0% in service mode and keeps rebooting. I checked and all the components, mosfets and resistors are in place and not loose. I tried a second new battery and keep getting the same mistake. The battery connector looks fine.

Oddly, the old battery works just fine (besides its reduced capacity).

Do you have any ideas what could cause this issue?

Checked the forum/internet, but nobody seemed to have my specific issue.

How long have you charged your battery for?

All night long, but it didn't help.

Sounds like the battery connector. Try putting some pressure on it and see if it charges and shows percentage. Make sure the pins are not pushed into the plastic. On the iPhone 8 and above it is a fairly common issue.

Good evening,

To me this could be a number of things:
1) A faulty battery connector (on the battery side) (but that's unlikely as u tried 2

2) a completely different battery

3) It's paired meaning that the phone doesn't recognise it.

I personally daily an iphone 8 and although i haven't replaced the battery (yet), i find it to work just fine on 88% Max capacity.

Have you tried this multiple times over or (and/or if u have access to) on a different iphone 8.

If so then maybe it's time to give this up and just succumb to Apple's intentional degradation of their products.

Besides it is only $79 AUD (I am in Australia atm). It seems that this time and effort may just come to nothing.

Of course i think everyone here appreciates those like you who are testing parts and telling us all about it. I thank you for this as it really helps me when i need to help others.
